LINDEN WAS BURNING

Linden was burning, burning,

a girl sat under it

sparks were falling on her

and boys were crying over her

Boys brought water in sieve

and tried to extinguish the green linden fire

the amount of water in that sieve

equals the spells on the boys

Girls brought water too

and tried to extinguish the green linden fire

the number of holes on the sieve

equals the number of beautiful girls.

BE QUIET, DEAR, DON'T KNOCK

Be quiet, dear, don't knock

don't make noise with your spur

because my mother's, my mother's door

is not too far

Because my mother's door

is not too far

when in the morning, when I wake up in the morning

she will talk to me

When I woke up in the morning

my mother asked me

with whom have you, with whom have you, my daughter,

chatted last night?

With feather quilt, mother, with feather quilt, mother,

with feather quilt, mother, I had trouble

you made it short, you made it short

it barely covered me.

EVERYONE'S GOOD

Everyone's good, everyone's good

except me, except me

everyone has a girlfriend

but me, but me .

W hy didn't you get married

Yanko the playboy

when a shot of brandy

cost one coin only .

E h, the bartender lady died

she wasn't in pain

she put a lot of brandy

on our tab

I f she died, let her rest in peace

sad she's not alive

because nobody can put brandy

on our tab now .

SONG OF RUSYN or ( MY VILLAGE OF RUSKI KERESTUR )

In the middle of wide plain

you, as a mother of those people,

maintain traditions for years

and its Rusyn name

(Refrain)

Always watered with peasant's sweat

acres more precious than gold

mother sings with them, and she cries with them too,

while she raises her Rusyn son.

Even destiny often grabbed your children

from your arms

their unconditional love toward you

protected them to these days

The years weighted down the roofs

your ever warm homes

deep wounds will be healed

with your arrival to dear family

stay young,  our village,

our youth will continue

to sing the Rusyn songs

and we will last to eternity

I WAS CRAZY

I was crazy

that I loved you

Shey, hoy, what your mother

has done bad mouthing to me

All the things she has done

and gossiped

Shey, hoy, but she has raised

an drunkard son of her own

give me my dear, give me,

why wouldn't you give me

Shey, hoy, some red wine

from a clear glass

MIKLOSHEVCI'S LOVE

One spring destiny opened its eyes

a voice came to me from heaven

angel sent rays of golden little heart

we wrote about ourselves, about our village

we wrote about ourselves, our wish

we were separated by worlds, countries, oceans...

we were united by love and our wish.

Mikloshevci's love, sacred, given to us by God

branch faithfully knits our spring flowers

Mikloshevci's love will stay forever

where the branch knits our spring flowers

You came, my beloved, on unforgettable path

sincere love appeared

you gave my heart attention

we wrote about ourselves, about our village

we wrote about ourselves, our wish

we were separated by worlds, countries, oceans...

we were united by love and our wish

Mikloshevci's love, sacred, given to us by God

branch faithfully knits our spring flowers

Mikloshevci's love will stay forever

where the branch knits our spring flowers

our spring flowers

MOTHER'S GERANIUM

Life took me far away

happy years are gone

here in this strange foreign country

I miss the wide fields.

I work here under the foreign sky,

I came here to earn a living,

but my thoughts wander

over the fields of my native country.

Refren

Mother's geranium

that was on in the window sill

I remember it often

in the fall, when wind blows.

Mother's geranium

I can almost smell them

and sound of mother

I can almost hear

I see our little home through the fog,

I'm stepping onto home's threshold

and suddenly, I ' m seeing near the flower s

mother's smiling face.

Tears fall down my cheek

the image vanishes in the fog,

I can't hear the song mother sang

when she watered her geraniums .

Refren

Mother's geranium

that was on in the window sill

I remember it often

in the fall, when wind blows.

Mother's geraniums

I can almost smell them

and sound of mother

I can almost hear.

LET SONG TELL US

Between stars

one shines only for me

between emotions

my heart is burning

let heaven answer me

will you be mine

I'm giving you the dreaming song

let it guard and love you

just like me

let this song give you

same things I would

only heaven knows how much I love you

let this song give you same things I would

only heaven knows

only heaven knows how much I love you

with my song I wish for your love

because of your love

my wings are growing

I'm looking for your hands, for you

I wander in the nights

need for you calls me

I will find you

we'll be together forever

let this song give you same things I would

only heaven knows how much I love you

let this song give you same things I would

only heaven knows

only heaven knows how much I love you

 between stars

HEY, GIRLS

Hey, girls, do you hear?

where do you gather the hay?

hey, hey, hey, hey

where do you gather the hay?

I will go with you,

so you won't gather the hay alone.

hey, hey, hey, hey

you won't gather the hay alone.

Hey, I will mow the grass

and I'll make the haystacks

hey, hey, hey, hey

I will make the haystacks

Don't tell anybody

just carry the hay home.

hey, hey, hey, hey

just carry the hay home.

MAPLE TREE EXPANDS BIG BRANCHES

Maple tree expands big branches
no room behind it;
A beautiful girl
will become a beautiful bride.

What kind of water is it
in this deep well?
Her mother washed her rosy cheeks
with this same water.

Is this the same well's water
they bathed her in?
But when the first suitor came
they gave her to him.

HIDE YOUR TEAR

I t's not worth hiding your tear

it won't erase your pain

bachelor's tear often deceiving

that tomorrow is better than yesterday was

it's not worth hiding your tear

it won't  drown out your pain

tear only gives you hope

but pain remains in your soul

Share your sorrow with your friend

if  it  is a real friend

he will understand you

with a smile on his face

Share your sorrow with your friend

if it is an old friend

he will understand you

with a smile on his face

the tear can sometimes be sincere

but hard to understand

and we can forgive

the sins from our youth with it

And then wipe your tear

song will dry it out

song saves all the memories

in your tired soul

sing the song with your friend

don't spare the guitar strings

forget your tear forever

and those old times

sing the song with your friend

don't spare the guitar strings

forget your tear forever

and those old times

forget the song forever

and those old times

SEVEN TULIPS

Seven tulips every Spring

bloomed in the garden beneath our window.

seven tulips covered in dew

their smell was present every morning

Refrain

Seven tulips red, fragrant,

grow proud and sumptuous,

let the Sun caress you every Spring,

let our little home be happy.

In our little house love lives,

here, as a swallows, we made our nest.

red, tender blossoms of tulips

gave beauty to our happy days.

Refrain

Seven tulips red, fragrant,

grow proud and sumptuous,.

let the Sun caress you every Spring,

let our little home be happy.

I WAS RUSYN

https://ssl.gstatic.com/ui/v1/icons/mail/images/cleardot.gif

I was, I am and I will remain Rusyn,

I was born a Rusyn,

My honorable lineage I will not forget,

And I shall remain its son;

My father and mother were Rusyn,

As are all my relatives,

My brothers and sisters are Rusyns,

and my large group of friends;

My great and mighty people

Are united in peace,

and with renewed strength and spirit,

Are magnanimous to all others.

I first saw this world under the Beskid range,

The first breath I drew was Rusyn,

And I was raised on Rusyn bread,

A Rusyn it was who cradled me.

When I opened my mouth for the first time,

I spoke Rusyn words,

And it was over Cyrillic letters

That sweat ran from my young brow.

Later I was educated as a Rusyn.

And as such went out into the wide world;

But I did not forget

My own distinguished people.

And now who shows me the way?

Who nourishes me?

Who uplifts me?

It is the Rusyn nation

Which upholds my respectability.

It is for you, my people,

I bow down to the living God.

Through sweat and hard work

I pay back my obligation

And give to you as much as I can

Accept as a gift and with sincerity.

This little book

And its writer's words

I will not forget to sacrifice this repentance

From the bottom of my heart.

I will remain your devoted

Friend until I die.

THE HORSE WAGON SERVED HONESTLY,

AND IT SERVED OUT...

I am a horse wagon
I was built from the best wood and iron
by the most skilled craftsmen - wagonmaker and
blacksmith
they built me to last for centuries
during my long life I served people honestly
every time
I am a horse wagon ... my time expired
nobody needs me anymore!
